Damn, where do I start. Not only is
there a bucket load of consoles but
several emulators for each one. I'm
thinking that alphabetically might the
way to go. You will probably notice
that I have snagged a lot of info from
the Classic
Gaming site but note only a
very small portion. I highly
recommend that you look at the
Museum section there.

Adventurevision
(Entex)
This was a very nice
tabletop machine with a
short shelf-life. Only
ever had 4 games released
for it but were all very
faithful arcade ports.

Astrocade (Bally)
The Bally Astrocade
endured several
re-releases but never got
over that cheesy 70's
woodgrain finish. I've
never seen one of these in
person but they did have a
fanatical following.

Colecovision
The colecovision was the
premier home console of
the early eighties.
Released in 1982, this
machine out-powered both
the Atari 2600 and the
Mattel Intellivision. The
Arcade ports were very
close to the originals and
accessories included items
such as steering wheels.
You could even play
Atari2600 games through an
adaptor.

Fairchild - Channel F
(Fairchild)
What is particularly
significant about this
machine is that it
is what all modern
consoles were originally
based on. This machine was
the first console to use
cartridge based software.
The system included tennis
& hockey as built-in
games but overall the
games themselves are very
poor. This system lives on
in all cartridge-based
consoles.

Neo Geo Console
The most powerful home
console ever released, the
NeoGeo is really a home
version of the well known
arcade cabinets. Most
recognised for a long
string of fighters, all
games are the exact copy
of the arcade releases and
are very nice. Due to the
power of the system, it
was very costly and
therefore could not
compete with lesser
consoles and eventually
was discontinued.
